Conference Unites Pupils in Climate Action

Posted on 10/06/2026

Pupils from across the Trust came together last Friday for the annual Climate and Sustainability Conference at the Rothamsted Conference Centre, in a day dedicated to learning, collaboration and collective action on environmental issues. Bringing together both primary and secondary students, the conference created a vibrant space for young people to share ideas, explore solutions and build a shared commitment to tackling climate change. The event centred on the theme of climate action, with a programme of workshops, talks and interactive sessions designed to inspire and empower students of all ages.

The day began with a thought-provoking keynote speech from the Mayor of St Albans, who highlighted the importance of sustainability and the powerful role young people can play in shaping a greener future. This message set the tone for a day of curiosity, creativity and collaboration.

Throughout the conference, pupils participated in a range of engaging workshops and activities, including poster-making, sustainability-themed games and opportunities to learn about biodiversity through meeting different animals. These hands-on experiences encouraged students to think practically about environmental challenges and consider how small, everyday actions can contribute to meaningful change.

A key strength of the event was the opportunity for students from different schools and age groups to work together, exchanging ideas and learning from one another. The shared experience reinforced a sense of community across the Trust, with pupils united by a common goal of protecting the planet.

The conference once again highlighted the passion and creativity of Scholars’ Education Trust pupils, leaving attendees feeling inspired and equipped with new knowledge to take back to their schools. Through events like this, the Trust continues to nurture informed, responsible young people ready to lead the way in climate action.
