Year 8 Pupils Compete in Exciting Scholars' Cup

Posted on 15/05/2025

Sporting spirit and determination were on full display as Year 8 pupils from six of our secondary schools came together for a thrilling netball and football tournament. Held at Samuel Ryder Academy and co-ordinated by SRA Sport Academy Leaders, the event provided young athletes with the opportunity to test their skills, build camaraderie, and enjoy the excitement of competitive play.

The tournament featured fast-paced football matches and high-energy netball games, with students showcasing teamwork, agility, and strategic play. Whether dribbling past defenders on the pitch or making precise passes on the netball court, the players demonstrated impressive dedication and sportsmanship.

Teachers, coaches, and supporters cheered enthusiastically from the sidelines, encouraging the students to give their best performances. While competition was fierce, the emphasis remained on teamwork, fair play, and the joy of taking part.

At the end of the tournament, pupils celebrated their achievements with the Scholars' Cup being jointly awarded to Samuel Ryder Academy and Sir John Lawes School. The event was a fantastic display of young talent, outstanding performances, sportmanship and teamwork, leaving participants eager for their next sporting challenge.

A brilliant day of competition and camaraderie!
