Hertfordshire head teacher, Claire Robins, receives OBE

Posted on 23/10/2018

We were delighted to announce in June that Claire Robins, head of Sir John Lawes and CEO of Scholars’ Education Trust, had been awarded an OBE (Office of the Order of the British Empire) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for her services to education. On Wednesday, 17 October 2018, Claire was honoured to visit Buckingham Palace to officially receive her OBE from the Princess Royal.

Claire said, ”It was a wonderful privilege to receive my award in such beautiful surroundings and to meet so many interesting other recipients.  I felt proud to represent the Sir John Lawes community in such impressive company.”

Claire Robins has been head of Sir John Lawes since 2006, having previously taught at number of Hertfordshire Secondary Schools.  In 2009, she was made a National Leader of Education with a remit for supporting other school leaders, particularly those working in schools in challenging circumstances.  With the Department of Education, Claire has visited China and Singapore to look at their school systems. She has also been a member of the local Regional School’s Commissioner’s Headteacher Board for the last 4 years.
