Scholars’ Cricket Cup Proves a Winning Debut for Trust Schools

The inaugural Scholars' Cricket Cup proved to be a resounding success, bringing together talented young cricketers from across the Trust for a day of friendly competition, teamwork and sporting excellence.
Held under glorious sunshine at the outstanding facilities of Hemel Hempstead Town Cricket Club, the tournament showcased the enthusiasm, determination and skill of students from across the Trust. Staff, students and spectators enjoyed a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day as schools competed for the honour of becoming the first-ever Scholars’ Cricket Cup champions.
The Trust would like to extend its sincere thanks to Hemel Hempstead Town Cricket Club for the use of their fantastic ground and for helping to make the event such a memorable occasion. The excellent playing surface and welcoming venue provided the perfect setting for an exciting day of cricket.
After a series of competitive and closely contested matches, Samuel Ryder Academy secured an impressive third-place finish, demonstrating great sportsmanship and resilience throughout the tournament.
Longdean School claimed second place after a strong performance across the day, reaching the final following a number of excellent displays with both bat and ball.
Emerging as the inaugural champions were Sir John Lawes School, whose outstanding performances earned them the title of the first-ever Scholars’ Cricket Cup winners. Their consistency, teamwork and determination saw them lift the trophy and etch their name into the competition’s history.
Beyond the results, the event was a celebration of school sport, providing students with the opportunity to represent their schools, develop friendships and create lasting memories. The success of this first tournament has laid strong foundations for what promises to become a highlight of the Trust’s sporting calendar.
Congratulations to all the students who took part, as well as the staff and volunteers who helped make the day possible. The Trust looks forward to building on the success of this year’s competition and welcoming schools back for an even bigger Scholars’ Cricket Cup in the future.
