Week of Meaningful Connections
Posted on 30/01/2026This week has been filled with inspiring learning, meaningful connections, and memorable experiences across all phases of our Academy community.
A huge thank you to Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, who dedicated their time to deliver CPR Smart Training to our Sixth Form students. Equipping young people with lifesaving skills is invaluable, and we are incredibly grateful for their expertise and commitment.
We were also delighted to welcome 80 international visitors—40 colleagues from the Benelux region and a further 40 from the Netherlands—who joined us to explore how thoughtfully embedded digital technology can enrich teaching and learning. It was a privilege to showcase how our approach enhances children’s and students’ experiences across Samuel Ryder Academy.
Our Year 8 students have been producing exemplary work in their Pirates unit. From exploring the history of famous pirates to investigating the origins of well‑known pirate stereotypes, their curiosity and creativity have shone through in their written work.
Year 9 students enjoyed an exciting visit to the University of Hertfordshire, where they learned more about university life, the breadth of courses available, and what the next steps in their educational journey could look like. A fantastic opportunity to broaden horizons and spark ambition.
A huge well done to all students and staff involved in making this such a vibrant and enriching week. Moments like these remind us of the power of education to inspire, connect, and transform.
