House of Lords Speech
Posted on 20/05/2025On Friday, Year 12 student, Sophia S, from Samuel Ryder Academy was invited to spend an incredible day at the Houses of Parliament.
In the evening, Sophia gave a brilliant speech at the House of Lords, speaking on behalf of Voice 21, discussing the importance of talk within our classrooms and the power of connections. This is such an incredible achievement, and we are immensely proud of her.
We would very much like to thank the Speakers Trust who run ‘My Maiden Speech’, a programme which offers training to young people to speak in the House of Lords; they hosted the full-day workshop and organised this wonderful opportunity.
