'The Hive'

Posted on 02/05/2024

On Monday, our Year 4 children from Samuel Ryder Academy travelled to Essex for a one-night residential at ‘The Hive’ staying in wooden eco pods. It was a new trip this year during which children learnt, explored and participated in climate and sustainability education.

They enjoyed exploring Epping Forest, conducting a mini-beast hunt, participating in team building challenges and handling the animals which was a definite highlight! In the evening, they enjoyed a camp fire, singing, marshmallows and games.

The activities were designed to equip young people with age-appropriate knowledge and experiences to help them to make choices to protect the environment going into the future.

It proved to be a very successful trip and all of the children had an absolutely incredible time.
