Multicultural Day

Posted on 12/06/2023

Today, we celebrated Multicultural Day with an incredible Multicultural Festival at lunchtime. The students enjoyed fantastic market stalls led by our brilliant Student Cabinet.

They also organised an outstanding Multicultural Event welcoming our special guest Mary Mandefield (BBC1 Radio). Well done to the student panel for an amazing interview - you were all brilliant and we were captivated by Mary’s responses. Mary was incredibly inspiring to the students and advocated the importance of finding their voice to bring positive change - we thank her so much for joining us and being such a great role model.

This beautiful poem was written by our Cambridge and Oxford classes. It illuminates the essence of belonging and community which encapsulates Multicultural Day - well done to our Year 6 children!

I Come From…

I come from a place that possesses Scholarly habits.
Where I can be an individual and free from the judgement of others.
Where I can be myself but surrounded by many.
I come from the familiar sound of pounding footsteps trudging along the bustling corridors.
Ideas and knowledge being churned out with each breath.
Changing aromas fill the air.
Over-cooked vegetables are masked by the inviting sweetness of the fresh fruit.
I come from endless opportunities delivered with enthusiasm.
Each lesson providing students with a new insight and a view through goggles of intelligence.
I come from a nurturing environment where achievement, care and excellence blooms.
Where I thrive amongst ‘an education for a changing world.’
