GCSE Student Music Showcase

Posted on 12/10/2021

On Monday the 11 of October, GCSE Music students performed in the 2021 Year 11 Showcase. This was the first time in two years we had been able to do so. The performance opened with a Saxophone Trio, who played ‘Subway’ by Karen Street – a lively and exciting start to a great evening. They were followed by multiple solo performances including Imogen Sutton performing the theme to Schindler’s List on violin, Olly Lewis-Lim playing Massenet’s ‘Meditation’ and Lila Mintowt-Czyz singing ‘Your Power’ by Billie Eilish. There were also a number of ensemble pieces – a dynamic duet of ‘Make You Feel My Love’ (as sung by Adele) from Gracie Weldon and Amelie Crocker with accompaniment by Imogen, Olly and Lila on strings, two of Rosie Sutton’s original compositions (‘Persephone’s Spring’ and ‘Lighthouse’) performed by a small choir. The evening finished with the entirety of the performers playing ‘Waltz no. 2’ by Shostakovich arranged for jazz orchestra, courtesy of Mr Walton. Overall, the showcase was a brilliant opportunity for the year 11 students to display their talents and gain performance experience, and a brilliant entertainment for the audience.
